How can the MediaMonkey Remote be improved?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. sorting options

    I would like to be able to select tracks and then sort them. For instance a lot of trance music I listen to blends one song into another. If I can't sort by track it doesn't sound right.

  2. In Library long klick on an Artist, Year, Rating an Play all

    It should also be possibly that in the Library view when i hold long one the Menue on genre, artist, year or rating the pop-up menu Popsup where i can choose "Play Now", "Play Next", "Play Last" as well as it is quite possible with the albums and the Location.

    You mean that you want to be able to play all the different types of “folders” in the Library, just as you can do with Albums and Locations in the current version, right?

    If so, it’s already implemented, and will be released with the next version.

  3. Show lyrics stored on my PC through the MiniLyrics plug in

    I have installed the MiniLyrics lyrics editor and player as an add-on to MediaMonkey. So I can store, edit and watch synchronised lyrics on my PC.
    Its a great add-on, specially because most of my collection is in FLAC, with no way to embed the lyrics in the file.

    The thing I would love would be to be able to watch the lyrics showing on my Android phone when i use it as a remote.

  4. star rating displayed the same as Media Monkey for Android or Windows - ie. as a row of 5 stars

    basically copy the display of MMA rather than the dial graphic which I find difficult to see on a small phone on a sunny day...

    This is already implemented. Just go to Settings => Advanced => Show quit button, and it will show up in the options menu (the one that appears when you click your hardware menu button, or the three dots in the lower right corner of your screen on newer models).

  6. Play/pause, previous/next without unlocking

  7. Timer for shut down

    a timer for the shut down would be great. something like:
    - shut down now
    - shut down in ... minutes

    so you can listen music in bed and the laptop wont work the whole nigth ^^

  9. Browse by Classification (Mood, Occasion, Speed)

    Media Monkey has this amazing classification feature. Imagine you prepared a wonderful date at home with your love. As the time goes by you choose the suitable music by mood with just two clicks. An easy way to add flavour to your date or to your party in seconds :-)

    Need to verify that this is indeed possible with the MediaMonkey API, but if it is, this is someting I would like to add.

    Hm, it should already be there. It should actually be in every folder in the Library.

    I think your issue may be that you have less than 100 artists, is that right? If so, the “Go to letter” button won’t show up, since all artists are on a single page anyway.

    So since it’s all on a single page, my reasoning is that you might as well scroll through the list of artists instead of the list of letters (in the letter picker). Do you feel differently?

    Please let me know your thoughts in the comment field. This is a very simple thing for me to change if you convince me that it is necessary. ;)

    A slider that lets us change the sound balance in MediaMonkey (balance between left/right speaker).

  14. Mute/lower volume when receiving a call

    When the phone running the remote receives a phone call, mute or lower the volume of the music playing in MediaMonkey.

    UPDATE: Implemented. Will come with the next update!

    Needs additional, possibly scary, permissions which I am reluctant to add to the app itself. It might be possible using some kind of plugin functionality, though. I’m researching.

  15. Create shortcuts to certain tracks

    Make it possible to create spesific shortcuts for the home screen. For example, one shortcut could start playing a spesific album, playlist or track.

  16. Direct artist/album search from main tab

    When long pressing the album art, give us a choice of launching a search for the current artist or album.

  19. Choose what happens when single clicking track in library

    Instead of selecting/deselecting a track when clicking it, make it possible to immediately add it to the playlist. Perhaps as an option?

    The vertical layout is still mostly identical, but I have made a better horizontal layout.
